Good question. There are no bad ones here.
Let's start with the basics: I grew up in Ottawa with a 25-acre backyard so nature was my playground. This small fact has shaped the way I see life, but also stories, government policies and climate change.
As a child born in 1999 I was told to be a lady, cross my legs, and be less loud. Thankfully none of those things actually changed my personality. It did however make me defiant, driven, goal-oriented and despite my parents' best efforts: louder. My strong personality has led me to a career in journalism where I'm a leader, a teacher, ask tough questions and dream up story ideas.
I discovered journalism 5:45 am on a Monday in Grade 10. I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock, programmed to the local radio station. The hosts were laughing. I thought, "Wow, their job sounds like a lot of fun."
And then I thought. "Well, maybe I could do that."
So here I am.
With a degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Graduate Certificate from Conestoga college later, I'm a professional journalist.
And I can confirm: this job is fun.
